Well yeah, or short block with no labour

Just a bad guestimate that things are possible, but require some creative thinking.

The stumbling block of building a good car for under $15k is the initial car purchase price. You can buy a 93 GX cheap, but then you have more work/money converting it. You can buy a later model WRX ready to go, but then have a higher end cost as you break and replace bits.

You can get GD JDM engine, gearbox etc whole for say $8k. Add cheap shitter GC8 shell and it adds up to under $15k for a 'weapon'.

Practically, unless you are doing it all yourself, it will cost a lot more and then there are the hidden costs of making things work.

get an early gx impreza - $2k
buy a jdm bugeye sti & get it chopped in half & sent over - $11k
do all the work yourself & swap over the entire driveline/loom/dash/ecu etc $free

leaves you a couple of grand to play with for any extra's you might want

would be an awesome project & you'll end up with a nice tidy package

Thats awesome.

I have been in many a fast car.

Its not the point of the thread - Anyone can troll carsales and forums for links.

A bit of creative thought and discussion is the goal.

When you say "performance" what do you have in mind for the vehicle. Is track beast, drags, fast streeter or all of the above?
