bit of advice- probably best to start looking when you have the money 6 months is a lifetime.
you will only frustrate people with window shopping if you have no intention to buy

It might cost you a bit of cash, but if you can, get a pressure and flow test of the fuel pump. Even better, a dyno run with a A/F ratio graph. Fuel pumps seem to go on bugeye STI's for some reason, will melt pistons and crack heads quick smart.
Also, front wheel bearings.
Check the brakes, if they're worn out, thats close to 2g just for front pads and discs.
Best bet is probably get the potential purchase checked over by a Subaru specialist workshop or a dealership before hand.

Or if you have the cash, check out the one Doug (DtRally) is selling. Being a Subaru specialist I would say it would be well looked after.

Whats the cost on that test? Can just buy a fresh Walbro and be done with it for ~$120. Good idea though, cheap insurance for any car that age or older

This one's definately worth a look if you're ready to buy now.

True, best way is just to whack a Walbro in. Regarding the test, the cost of a dyno run. just get the workshop to connect a fuel pressure/flow tester on while they do the A/FR run. So... whats that, about $150?
I mentioned it because i've seen faulty fuel pumps destroy 2 engines on Bugeye STI's.

LOL 2k for pads and rotors

Only if you roll into a Subaru dealer and ask the service department to shove a pole up your ass, which has been pre wrapped into barbed wire.
