Default guy that ripped me off from rexnet caught by police

so the guy that ripped me off with those way too cheap endless brake pads from rexnet. he's been caught by brisbane police informed me that he is in custody and is being charged with several counts of fraud.

they will be seeking restitutuion of the funds on our behalf too

Ain't karma a bitch?

I am however extremely impressed with how the police have not only taken the complaint seriously but they caught the guy quickly and are charging him too.

Cops are tops

Well, i was about to start a thread here regarding something like this here and how to combat it.

Over at NissanSilvia.com forums, the owner is developing a website called forumscams.com, basically its an invitation to all forum admins/mods around Australia to join and posting scammers who operate and take advantage of the forums.

Anyway, ill paste what he has said;

Quote:
am in the process of developing a new site, which i will invite admins & moderators from nissansilvia.com / sau / ls1edit / ausrotary / boostcruising etc etc to post details of scammers that have been operating...

I have been in talks with the the national police branch of electronic fraud to try and work out a system by which they can actively chase up reports that come through the site.

basically the way it will work :

banner advert / text advert for the site on their site
their mods/admins get access to the site
their site gets listed as "partners" of forumscams.com
Im pretty sure there will not be any fees involved, but ill keep you updated. I know these forums arent very prone to this sort of thing, but i still think would be a good idea to participate in this.

i'm just happy to see the police treating it as seriously as a crime commited in person. it gives me back a little faith in the system.

that site sounds like a damn good idea alex

no he never sent them

i guess using bank transfer to your account isn't the smartest thing to do if you're planning to commit fraud...

i think that there a number of legal problems with that site...what if the guy is innocent and runs a business and a couple of people get on there badmouthing him...the site owner could be in a lot of trouble...but it works in principle.
