WHS ^^

Unless you run serious door speakers, a sub is necessary IMO.

Depends to what you listen too, but without a sub you won't be getting the full experience.

Whole new system Kym? :P

Yep, def needs the sub. Severely lacking in bass otherwise :)

Sorry, no. The wattage rating means diddly and squat on speakers. A sub, enclosure and amp might add what, 20kg to a car? It will make no difference to your cars performance as a daily. Simply install the sub enclosure using quick straps and remove that on track days. Too easy.

A sub is necessary (depending upon what you listen to) unless you're running 8 inch mids in your door. You can get 6.5 inch woofers that will still play low down 40-50hz but not at any decent volume. Turn it up and they will distort and get sloppy when trying to play full range.

I'd be surprised if my amp, 12" sub & enclosure came to more than 10kg. And yep, quick connectors and it's out of the trunk in under 30 seconds :)

Where did you get the stereo quote Kym? My quote was very similar from Alberts Ossie park, though they tried to tell me the stock speakers are trash. Sounded decent in Jamie's car!

Ended up buying a Focal BUS25 on special online which is meant to be one of the better under seat subs.... Need to decide on a 4channel amp and an installer.

I am using Volitile car audio in Malaga. They are doing both my wife's GT Liberty ans my STI. I have gone for the almost full package - new speakers, amps, sub and LC6i - keeping original head unit.:)

Ben, Alberts Joondalup quotes that. Alpine amp, sub and enclosure plus install including line converter and wiring splits to the amp.

What was the under seat sub you purchased worth?

Brett, my days of running big systems are over, I just want some bass, as cheaply as possible without skimping on quality

Kato 08-01-2013 08:34 AM

Fark subwoofers, buy a louder exhaust :D

About $450 delivered from Melb. Which will be more than whatever Alberts suggested no doubt, but a better sub.

Normally I have seen them up around the RRP of $550 - $600

Apparently they are one of the better under seat subs, obviously not as good as a proper sub box in the boot, but I put my bike in there so don't want a sub in the way.
