I would think a "race" event is just that, and includes fire marshals at the fire marshal points, fire fighter crews on deck.

Other track days, speed events, test and tune, etc are not race events and therefore we would still need an extinguisher, and the related tagging procedures as required.

A track day at Barbs (ie tuning/training) is definitely not a race event, so it could be assumed it would be classified as speed.
Even so it is up to the organiser to decide they're required or not even if CAMS doesn'tr neccessarily require them...clear as mud!

They want "trained" fire marshals putting out fires rather than having drivers walking on the circuit trying to put fires out.

Even a 1kg extinguisher could save someone's life or save you thousands in repair costs. Even if it only lasts 20 seconds it may be enough to put the initial fire out and keep the area cool enough it won't reignite.

I had a fire in my garage a few weeks back (vacuum shorted out and went up in flames) , was very greatful I had an extinguisher nearby. It took a couple of seconds to put out, a lot longer to clean up all the powder.

Anyone that contemplates any event without a fire extinguisher really needs to have a look at their priorities.

I have two in my house and a fire blanket - it's like insurance. Hope I never use it but I'm glad I have it.
