I think the gti has a few things in common, like turbo... and thats about it really. Is front wheel drive so doesn't really compare to a wrx

The trouble with autoexpress is it does get some scoops (they pay tabloid style to get stories from insiders), but then sometimes they throw in a red herring.

The reason i think it's aimed at the golf gti is that it's a very lucrative part of the market in Europe. Many people opt for a golf as they don't like the rally bred/hoon look of the WRX but would love the power/handling and i'm afraid looks carry more weight for most folks than drive-ability, so the golf sells more.

Personally i'm not a fan of the look of the WRX, but i have had 2 now so i must buy them for some reason!

i see enough of them!

Pretty bad chop, even by tabloid standards.

Front end is that old "MY06 concept" that's been floating around since Moses was in short trousers, wheels are current STI, 'wing' is STI, rear glass is from the current hatchback/wagon.

If you have a look, the wing is fixed.... so how would they open the hatch under the wing?
