meh

lacks at least 100kw if not 150kw

I have no idea why everyone is banging on about these cars - they will look good with a numebr of exterior mods, they will never go like a shower of shit until they have a turbo strapped to the side (or back or bottom). Hairdressers cars have been around for ages.

Those who buy and bang on about them being a performance car can go join

I don't think anyone is banging on about them because they rate them as a performance car. From what I can tell people like them because they're a nice looking coupe for not too much money.

Truly lightweight? No
Good power to weight? Not really
Is it gob smackingly good looking? Not really
Does it do any or have anything that is exceptional? No

And people have been banging on about them since announced.

Car full of compromises and really not so cheap to get over those compromises.

The celica of 2012 less some lard

I drove an FT86 on tuesday and even from a standing start it felt lacking.
Not a good start if my GC8 feels like a rocket in comparison, even my 2011 118d feels quick when compared. Go the oiler.
They should have gotten a 2.5 for some NA oommfff.
It didn't need to be quick but it did need to feel quick. It didn't, not by a long shot.

Just my opinion mind you, each to their own.
I wont be buying one which is a shame as I had really brought into the hype.

I appreciate it for what it is and its a hell of a lot better than comparable cars like an MX-5, 370Z or that Hyundai sportscar if u want to buy new.

Its not for everyone tho as even I who likes all sorts of sporty vehicles would miss the practicality, all round performance, tuneability and grunt that going from a WRX to one of these would offer . . .
