Clutch or brake will disengage the cruise control.

You can accelerate and when you take your foot off the car will go back to its pre-set cruise speed (handy for overtaking etc).

Remember cruise control is made for highways and will hold a more accurate speed at 80kmh+. It is constantly checking your speed and refining it to hold it at your set point. If you go down a hill, your car speed can increase and when it can control the speed again, it can go under the preset speed.

If you are interested in how it works, it is essentially a PID controller PID controller - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you're using your GPS, do you do it on a perfectly horizontal road?
GPS can be inaccurate when travelling on an incline/decline, as it's calculated using time between x,y locations (distance on a horizontal plain).
The distance (km's) via road between point A and point B is going to be a lot longer if you're travelling up and down hills. Most Navman, TomTom GPS' don't take altitude changes into account.

Always flat as cruise control is inaccurate on incline/decline as revs are up/down

I set mine via power fc and speedo. Normally 101 on power fc and 103 on the dial.

I use my throttle and brake to control my speed, sometimes I zig zag to wash off speed if I want to have a bit of fun...

Also best way to slow down when going right on a big round-about is to go in fast and just do a sort of scando flick, easier on brakes.

sorry, I wanst sure if this was a serious question when I read the first post about crusie control doing the gears for you... :-P
