Clunking '91 Liberty
Hi all, I was hoping someone might be able to give me some technical advice for a problem I have with a 91 Liberty. Of late it has taken to dumping a fair bit of oil from what I believe is the rear main seal which I intend to fix in the coming days, however in the last day or so it has developed a clunking noise from the rear of the engine/torque converter area. It idles great and accelerates fine to about 4000 + rpm, however the problem begins when the revs fall back and at about 2500 rpm there is a noise which sounds like (a slight) big end rattle follwed by a clunk! Wierd because at idle and acceleration it sounds fine. Would appreciate any advice on the matter cause it would be good to have an idea of what to go looking for when I fix rear main seal. Cheers
