Default Life of an 03 wrx

Hey everybody

I am thinking of buying myself an 03 wrx.

It's at 150k mileage. I havent checked it out yet but I was wondering if it is in good nick how long would it last for? In terms of mileage.

I will be taking good care of the car as I do with all my cars. What sort of mileage will it live to see?

Also wht are the issues that come along with an 03 wrx?

Your asking a very open ended question in asking how long it will last for?

How has it been treated, has it been serviced on a regular basis, has it had a shit load of boost put threw it, has it been raced ?

If looked after they will last a fair while, issues to look for are slipping clutch, abnormal noises, leaking rocker cover gaskets and split cv boots.

Basic shit you should be looking at anyway. Look at the log book and make sure its been looked after

Have you seen the one that Adz has for sale? It's probably one of the neater ones around.

Hrm... I guess the most common issues... Like what issues are these cars commonly known for?

But yeah, i havent seen the car myself so i wouldnt know the condition... But lets says it was well serviced how long would the car generally last fir? Until 250k mileage? For example... Rotary engines have a 100-150k mileage.

If it's been WELL serviced, things taken care of, eg:

- Timing belts
- Water Pumps
- Oil Changes/Filters
- Coolant
- Upper Engine Cleaners
- Seals

And driven nicely, they will last 300k+ no worries.

What Rich said. Car manufacturers have done a splendid job into scaring the average consumer that a car is 'old' at 100K/200K (However many km the customers car has done). With regular, and proper maintainence there is no reason for a car not to last well over 200K, well into 300K.

My gc8 has done 302xxx km and still going strong *touch wood* I've done numerous track days, I service every 5,000 km and don't thrash it on the street as it my daily also. I have no idea what the previous owner did to it as no history (or very minimal) but I've looked after it. Just need to look at the small detail to see if the previous owner has kept in good condition most of which are as stated above but also, interior quality also (not always) says something about previous owner and how they've treated it (again not always but a good indication...IMO anyways)
