I had the same thing happen last month to me, but luckily avoided the poles but did a bit of damage as the car doesn't drive the same no more (after repairs . seems to go sideways now in the dry with ease :S). I wasn't going fast either (between 30-40) but I just aquaplanned and hey presto I'm up a massive kerb, sitting in between a sign pole and path pole, & then later find my wheel is wedged into the guards after getting out the car after taking a corner with some difficulty.
Where I lost it the road semi dips & rises when it goes in the round about, so there was probably a build up of lots of shit in the middle and add to the fact my tyres weren't in the greatest shape (still road worthy though) probably added to the cause.

How do people justify that kind of money just to insure a (fairly common) car?

I'm not entirely sure I 'get' it. If I had the coin to be driving something exotic with an italian badge, yeah I can understand thousands to insure, but I pay about half that much each year to insure two cars and a house ffs...

it will be $300 a month to insure a 01 wrx now that i've lost my no claim bonus, that is also with choosing to pay an additional $300 basic excess, that'soonly an online quote so i dont know howmuch to trust it. with the payout from insurance i prob wont be able to afford a wrx anyway, so if the imprezza s deemed a write off i'm looking at a 98 liberty rx bilstein edition, i found one that is in perth but it's an auto so if everyone can keep an eye out for me for a 5spd liberty bilstein that would be great.

whats your opinions on this car????

at 22 i was paying $1700 a year to insure my 1998 NA 2.5L Liberty RX. They are seen as a prestige model, you might want to check the insurance first

theres nothing to incriminate me i didn't do anything wrong other than lack of experience, the police were only around the corner when it happened so they were on the scene straight away
