If you've got a friend over east, use their residential address & enter into a bogus rental agreement. Then apply to the Electoral Commission to change address (proof that you live there) - once you get the car back to Perth, change your electoral details again.

I thought about doing that (as in getting a mate to say that I was living over there), but when I rang the RTA in NSW, they said that you have to go there 'in person' to change your driver's license over. Therefore involving more money as I would have to fly over there. Any other thoughts??? Looks like I might just have to bite the bullet and pay the stamp duty in WA.
