My forester Has recently been Painted and has some small machine buffing marks in it want to get rid of them. I will need to hand polish the car and thought i would ask whats the best polish to use?

This needs to be asked in the Cosmetic forum.
that aside, if the car has just been painted I would recommend a full wash and wax. To seal the paint and protect it all. Wash the entire car, two bucket method. Dry with microfibre towel or similar. You should not need to cut or polish as the paint is new, if you scrub out any marks and then wax the shit out of it. Others may have different advice but thats my 2c.

Cause I just bought the car apparently the previous owner took it back 4 times to be done. He ended up having a falling out with the bloke and now it falls on me to do. Was able to negotiate the price down becuase of this.

then take it to a decent panel shop and spend 200 bucks on a full cut and polish. They know what they are doing, and are being paid to do it right.

Joe and Teejay are both right, I would definitely take it to a professional, there is meant to be some kick ass car detailer in the Central Park carpark. Classic Car detailers or something like that, he also comes out to you but for something like that you will need to take it to him.
