They have to only 8hp difference, gear box and brake is not enough to cover extea 25% cost.

Brembos, DCCD, Interior trim upgrade etc also add to the value of the STI. Not just about the power. But when it comes to handing over coin and the base WRX is that good already then it's harder to justify the STI as a daily driver.

Its all true, furthermore fa20 dit has much shorter twin scroll ex manifold and divorced waste gate design resulting much earlier spool, and 7.9l/100k too. Ej is too old now. I think wrx has equipped with viscous centre diff can run 40/60split too, just wo dccd's adjustability.

Time with testify the new 6speed's strength, it has carbon sycro on 1/2 and 2/3 gears. Low mount turbo can run much shorter intake system, but I think it will be hard to change to bigher turbo though.

But I still love my sti, looking forward to c fa20 di TT in sti. I think thats the right direction.

G'day All,

I picked up my MY15 WRX (Base model, 6 speed manual) last week as an upgrade from my MY06/2005 WRX. The only add ons I got were floor mats & window tinting.

It was love at first sight as I drove it from the dealership. I've managed to put about 300kms on the clock over the last week. Still being very careful with it, but it drives well, handles well and has plenty of get up & go.

The finish inside & out is very good and the family approves of the backseat legroom. I know this is probably sad, but the only thing I am missing from my old WRX is the aftermarket DAB+ radio to listen to ABC, 6PR & 6IX in FM quality.

I dropped by S-Technic with it last Friday and the guys there had a look over and under it as they hadn't seen one of the base models so far, but had had a couple of new STI's through already. I think they were also impressed with the new MY15.

A couple of pics attached. I was going to get the WRC Blue colour (took one for a test drive) however a colleague at work said the pearl white with black rims would look awesome. There weren't any white WRX's in the Perth dealers I could look at before ordering, so I took a chance ordering one - Now that it has arrived, I definitely agree with him.

My conclusion: Very good value for money - If you were thinking about upgrading or buying a new WRX, I don't think you'd go too wrong with a MY15. Happy to answer any of your questions.

Cheers.

Looks good. Not a massive fan of the stock rims but you can't see too much detail with them being black anyway so wouldn't be a priority to change them. Silver or white are always a good colour choice.

Hi Toohey,

I sold the MY06 privately. A dealership had a stock standard MY06 on the yard almost identical condition to mine with 110,000kms on the clock (mine had 140,000) for $24K. Just out of interest, I asked what they would give me for my car, so I didn't have to put up with the pitfuls of advertising privately - people not turning up, test pilots wanting to drive my car, etc, etc.

Their buyer offered me $6K. I only met & dealt with the salesperson, not the buyer, but asked if there was a 1 missing off the front of that...?!?!?!? He answered by saying, I think you're better off selling it privately. He's right, I sold it for $16K to the first person that inspected it.

I know a yard has to buy used cars for less than they sell them to make a profit, pay staff and keep the doors open, but offering me a 1/4 of the price they try to sell it for is an insult and a blatant rip off!

Cheers.
