Thanks for the replies everyone... I think I am leaning towards the hitech to be honest. Its difficult to find exhaust clips on youtube for butler and hitech on the gc8. I think the general consensus is that I can't go wrong with either...

go the hitech mate, its a bit more expensive, but its top quality. Mine is 8 years old, and no corrosion, no nothing. And its the perfect amount of noise without being "defectable"

Seeing as my mods will be a TBE, CAI, fuel pump upgrade and a tune, do you guys think I will need a turbo timer? If so, what turbo timer would you guys recommend for a gc8?
|
No turbo timer. Get a 3 port boost solenoid instead.

You don't need a turbo timer, gc8 turbos are water cooled not oil cooled. Just don't be thrashing your car and turning it off instantly.. |

Thats funny, try running one without oil, then YOU tell the Guy how to drive, lol. Need has nothing to do with practically any mod we do, it's WANT. Unless you are in Canberra and you want to securely (locked) warm the car up in the driveway to crack the ice off the windscreen and finish your coffee whilst its -5deg C outside. |

He asked if he needs a turbo timer, he doesn't. If he wants to waste his money buying one sure go right ahead. |
As above the stock turbos are water and oil cooled/lubricated, I think this is the case for most of the vf series, if you have changed to a oil only turbo running it once stopped is the right thing to do, this can be done with a turbo timer or by just sitting in the car for 30-60 seconds then locking and leaving

Hilarious Imprezive, you are still saying he "NEEDS" a TBE, CAI, Fuel Pump and a Tune...he doesn't. Kiiz recommended an alternate modification and thats constructive, you might want to suggest a flare kit and a big ass spoiler. Its subjective. |

I havn't said he needed any of those things? All I've said is that turbo timers are a waste of money which seems to of upset you enough to dig up this thread from 2 years ago... |
