Yeah 8.5 inches is 215mm but yeah I'd say 235 is the perfect size.

245 is perfect as sti use 18x8.5 with 245 tyres. But be warned it gives harsher ride and much more rolling resistance.

Depends on tyre manufacturer. Stock 245 dunflops on my OEM 8.5 rims looked slightly stretched.

Yok AD08's at 245 have vertical sidewalls and look chunky on my rims.

Speak to Wheels World or John Fowler they know their tyre brands/sizes off by heart.

I've just checked against the link that I used, the link that you used and this one and 2 out of 3 show 225/40R18 being 0.5% faster than 225/45R17...

I'm surprised by how many people are worried about your speedo being out a little bit.

Lol I thought you were talking about 245/40 r18 ...my bad, need to look more carefully..
you're right about 225s being faster but will probably look bit stretched on 8.5 rims.
235s or 245s are probably the best match for 8.5s

Average Joe doesn't understand tolerances and ADR requirements when it comes to speed measurement

Haha a couple kilometres over what I'm actually doing doesn't bother me whatsoever, but then again I am just another cashed up bogan.

Doesn't bother me either....just hate it when you think you were going speed limit, go past a camera, and two weeks later you pay

Used to run tyres on my GTi that added more to my speedo...after about a year only had 1 or 2 points left on my license, and probably funded a road sign or new traffic light with the dollars given away
...was a horrible 2-3 year wait to clear those. Never want tyres that affect the odo heaps again, no thanks!

Adding more speed to speedo = evil!
a k or two less on the speedo is safer and way easier to manage

I will chime in here since I actually have the same car/body...

I run 225's on 8.5" +44
They are ever so slightly stretched. The rims sit flush.

I would prefer 235's but were unavailable in Yoko S-Drives. I advise you to go 235 if you can. Tire and rim will sit flush

245 will hang out the guard.

edit: fuck your speedo readings - should use a GPS anyway
