Mates have had them, I've had a GF8 and I can testify that they are great cars. I'd just rather something a tad bit newer this time.

Constantly at the Airport, not a bad car from what I have seen.

Buy a RX, convert it to a STI and then have a 12 second car.

The GC8 was in production circa 8 years... Was any other model in production for that long?

May not be the most advanced, comfortable or fast of the lot, but from my experience, they are the most fun to drive :)

Possibly the only model produced under 1500kg too... Correct me if I'm wrong!

A GC chassis with later model running gear is the best combo out :p

Sorry for biting the hook off your line there Dave lol
Edit- baits gone before I could take it haha

I've seen a lot of people complain about how shit the 08/09/10 brakes are. Compared to what? They're an improvement over previous years. If you don't like them, change the pads (obviously just about essential for track use).

I've only noticed them fade once and that was also on the Fallen Heroes cruise when heading out to York. Long fast stretches of road, then needing to pull up reasonably quickly to turn right had me wanting for a bit more bite. Other than that, on the street my brakes have managed to serve me well enough to avoid collisions with blind numpties.

Not being a smart-arse, but has there actually been noticeable performance improvements / size increase in braking for WRX from the GD to current day WRX?

Dashcam footage to prove it :p

I've been seeing MY11+ going for under $30k recently. like this and this.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the OP has stated he won't be doing ANY track work? And from what I remember, none of the cruises I went on were a race.

Sure the OP won't get the race-car feeling of the STi, but as a family car, does that really matter?

Get the newer car. Get new brake pads, rotors and fluid and coilovers / shock + springs. Peace of mind IMO.
