This ^^ for all EJ longevity..... My Oil temp takes about 5 KM to come off the 30c bottom stop on my defi gauge - not many are aware of how long the oil takes to warm up and thin down.

ditto on my old wrx, and the temp gauge on the dash would be at about halfway after around 2 minutes of driving, false sense of security

I use my oil pressure gaige as guide line, take 3km (summer) to 5km (winter) for oil to be warm, should it be more accurate?
using the Perth-WRX mobile app

oil will still be <30c after 5 mins AD.
I don't boost my car until it hits 60c, on my daily grind I drive from Wembley Downs and get on the freeway at Cedric St - the temp comes up as I pass over scarb bch rd - this is after maybe 2 mins idle on the driveway at home as I get my shit together. Am I overly cautious? - Probably but I've never popped a bottom end either.

Sounds like I need an oil temp guage, I have been using the dash temp gauge as a boosting time guide, and that's up in a couple of minutes
