obd II Cable

ok iv just ordered a Cable to usb for my car due here next week just wondering if people on here who have them have any info for me..

it says i can clear and read ecu errors plus heaps other options which i wouldnt probably want to mess with more so error clearing makes it worth it.

it comes with some software apparently ? does any one ahve some better or different software i can get ?

also can u copy

which cable did u get? Tactrix or generic OBD II ?

if its the tactrix cable - then you can do everything, inc change parameters on ur ecu..

if its generic, then you will only be able to read erro codes, clear them and data log only

im pretty sure it i got the tactrix cable !

and what i meant to ask also was can i copy a complete ecu and transfer it ?

or is that dangerous

NVRENUF 29-06-2006 05:34 PM

ok im not 100% ill find out when cable arrives but it comes with the cable some book and had a cd though cd was burnt copy of somthing.. has couple snap shots of the software as well or the graphs and check boxs.

hy_ 29-06-2006 05:44 PM

cool, sorry had to edit - i was way to slow with that reply haha
im interested to see which software comes with it, should check out the other tools i mentioned as well they may give you bit more flexibility

NVRENUF 29-06-2006 05:45 PM

im bit scared to actually touch anything i shouldnt be.. main reason i got it was so if car is ever runnng funny or somthing doesnt seem right i can check and clear ecu codes...
now if i can do couple other extra things well bonus...

but like i said im not going to start changing shit and mess somthing up..

unless someone who uses these canb teach me a few things would be good

waxdass 29-06-2006 05:58 PM
