the ecutek does soudn better isnt it... 2k for a software flash sucks though.
and with ecktek u cant sell it later its just a flash. but u are all making me think now.. if i shoudl keep or sell the unichip ecutek what will i gain for extra $1000 it will cost me to goto ecktek over the unichip seems using stock ecu with extra changes sounds good like what u saying intra |

I know plenty of people running unichip and they go fine. Just remember two things, get a trustworthy tuner and dont get ecutek hahaha. Got so many bad stories about them, including my brothers bugeye that ended up with 8 dyno tunes over 6 months to get it right, or maybe the tuner was sh*&. But there is only one tuner of Ecutek in Adelaide.
I think considering your current mods, the unichip is fine. If you are considering upgrading turbo, internals etc, i would go a stand alone now to save upgrading in the future. Cheers |

Well...
Its all a question of what you're happy understanding.... Here's an example of a car that i've helped under go some changes. Grey line is the stock ecu knock corrections values, notice its rather low. Notice with some minor tweaks the final red line values were kept, the IAM figure is still sitting at 16 and perfectly happy. Boost comes on sooner now due to some wastegate refinements and AFR's are a steady 11.25 - 11.5 depending on conditions. Here's the same car on the unichip (prior to it being ripped out) Notice that the car heavily retards the knock correction values on the onset of boost? I suspect that because you're fudging the sensors and readings the ecu's freaks and starts trying to protect itself. But... the real question is... why would you buy an add-on when you can already mod the stock ecu as you see fit now Something for you and others to think about.... Cost of all this was... time and lots of reading. Last edited by Intra; 18-07-2006 at 12:53 PM. |

unichip will suffice for the level of mods. spend 1k more for ecutek for better insurance for the engine.

You might want to check if they (tek tuners) are planning to lock the ecu once its being tek.
