it's a check for exhaust gasses in the cooling system. they test the coolant. the presence of exhaust gasses indicated a leaky or blown head gasket.

Would like to get another VF Subaru turbo but I just don't have the money for a new 1200 turbo and more.... Second hand I just don't trust them.....

Sorry but what's the proper term for tk test? If a mechanic asks what's a tk test what do I tell him?
if a mechanic asks you what a TK test is. Go to a different mechanic.

Well said..... Watch me report back by me saying I couldn't find a mechanic that knew what a TK test was......on forum Tony at URD won the pole at 2nd best Subaru specialist in Melbourne....I got absolutely burnt by him....he cost me 12grand in running gear repair... Ran my car without coolant after I told him to change the centre diff and said no no its engine related.... I can go on and on.... Been burnt too many times by so called Subaru specialist... So this is why I want to do the stuff my self...

Thanks for the info Bram.... Makes sense

Just add some more spice to the mix sometimes with the tk test your car may pass it if it's performed at idle, but your headgasket may still be gone with it leaking when on boost. Also if your running higher than standard boost make sure your running a higher pressure STI type radiator cap.

All the best Mark
