Just had a reply from AVO, they are Using Techtom to access it.

Which is fine, i just didn't want to think that all these reflashing businesses, were charging people a fee for software that was freely available.

In AVO's case, they are not.

it WAS a monopoly. no one else knew how to do it and what to do. now since the information has become more accessible, other competitors have come into the market. i expect a fall in price to make a competative market. competition is good for consumers.

and those who paid circa $2k for their ecutek aren't going to be happy, but that's what u have to expect for flashing. it's been the argument since day one
