So this happened today.

Decided to get it on the Hub dyno for a comparison.

First run 600 with a misfire

two subsequent runs at 575 then this happened.

Early indications pointing to a dropped valve for some reason but I'll know more when I get the engine out and stripped in a week or two.

10,000 kms 16 drag runs and three dyno runs was due for a refresh but this wasn't quite what I had in mind.

Seems a lot of people suffering nasty problems recently. Hope you can resolve this one relatively cheaply.

Well it's dropped a valve. One of the inlet valves on No.2 cylinder.
I'm gutted because I've done everything I could to prevent this.

82Lb double valve springs, Niterided inlet valves, inconel exhaust valves and clearances set precisely to Cosworth specs for the cams i'm running. It's never had an over rev and limiter was set to a conservative 7800 so I really can't work out why this has happened.

Dan [GTI] and amtrapid like this.
