Compressor wheel has escaped without any damage. Can't get the exhaust housing off due to one bolt that was over tightened at some stage. I can't get to it properly as the oil drain casting is in the way. But from what I can see the turbine wheel is also unaffected.

I managed to get the motor fully stripped down today.

I'm so annoyed this has happened because judging by the condition of everything the engine was mint.

Here's the bearings after 10,000kms

Anyway better pics of the damage:

Here's the valve that dropped.

I've ordered some New Pistons. Gone with Some Wiseco's this time.

What valves will you use this time around? Ferreira, GSC, Manley?

So what part do you think let go? The endo of the valve where it meets the retainer. Or even the retainer itself popping? I guess its pretty hard to conclusively say?

Retainer was still intact and the valve stem was still locked by the collets. The valve head has come off. Everything is pointing to just a failure of the valve.

So no chance their is an issue with the cam causeing the valve to snap back harder than it normally should?

Any chance the valve spring force can be reduced and still cope under this sort of power?
