Well it doesnt cause a problem, because I use a knock light also to detect when it starts pinging.
When the light turns red and stays red for more than 5 seconds at a time, then u know when to stop |

The good thing with tuning on a dyno is that you actually know how much load is being placed on the engine. It would make tuning the load tables in the ecu a lot easier. When you road tune a car the load is constantly changing eg: uphill, downhill, head-on winds or fat passengers .
