Default Tyre Pressures

yet, another stupid question from me.....

What would you recommend I keep my tyre pressures at? (17" Protenza)
At my last car service, subaru recommended 29psi
Tyre place recommended 38psi
Car chassis says 32psi rear, 34psi front

i dissagree, i would run them at 38-40 psi, tyres last longer and you get better grip. the only reason they recomend 32 psi is because you get better ride quality with them being softer. Also bike tyres can be run on 100psi so you wont blow your tyres any time soon with higher psi.

Maybe 34 rear 36 front for the real low profile tyres like 18's or 19's

The best way is to see if the tyres are wearing the middle section or both outsides more and adjust it accordingly.

Middle worn = overpressure
Outsides worn = underpressure
One side worn = Alignment or hard driving

Handling also changes depending on pressure too, it can be a very personal thing.
