Default Low K's (on cars for sale)

I often look at what prices others Rexies are being offered for sale at; it never ceases to amaze me how, most of the time, the car has low K's on the clock... far lower than I could ever aspire to.

Living down 'ere in Bunbury, my Rex is my missus' daily driver (to local shops mostly) & I get to go in the pilot's seat on weekends (church on Sunday, that sorta thing ). I don't reckon I would do half the travelling that you guys in Perth would do, coz down here everything is no more than 10 mins away & only one thirtieth of the vehicle population.... yet I've clocked up 160000 in the '99. And like it or not, most ppl who are half serious as prospective buyers when the girl is on the market give high consideration to the odo.

So it begs the question: I can understand the odd low-mileage car here & there, but how izzit that sooooo many cars, even 4-5 years older than mine have less than 100K on the clock? Disconnect speedo cable & go off the tacho for a few years? Do a wind back before selling (if this can be done, which I doubt, unless you're a pro at this)? Pull the instrument cluster out of a lower K's car & do a swapover?

Beats the hell outta me

Alot of people have bunkies, use public transport etc.

Instrument clusters can have their odometer changed by pros like aistat or they can swap the cluster.

61000k MY99 from new. Previously 3.4 km round trip to work, now I fly Lets face it how many of us really need a hipo turbo charged car? Lots just get used only on weekends. Luckily going sideways does not clock up the kms

I do about 880km p/w go i rack up the km very quickly
so me re-selling a car with low km is very unlikely
