Default Engine Number Change

Just wondering,

You guys who have had engine changes, did you register with the DPI that you've had an engine change? If not did you have trouble selling the car?

Cheers.

From what I remember it is quite easy. There is a form to fill in for the DPI
but is real easy if the new engine is the same type/power as the original.
Car didn't need to be inspected.

If the newer engine is not of the same type then I think they start asking
lots of questions.
No problem selling.

I've done couple of conversions,
don't have to run them over the pits, just a form and your done,
Theres no problem selling, just keep the certificate to perhaps hand over to the new buyer.
I filled out that encyclopedia thick form for modifications, but wasted my time filling it out, and they wasted more of my time, making me wait 3 weeks for a phone call saying it wasnt necessary, sucked coz a sale fell through coz of the wait....anyhoos.....vent vent, straight forward proceedure changing engine numbers.

i'd probably get them to do it,
what if the engine turns out to be stolen or something,
don't know how likely it is, but hey, i wouldnt rule it out,
theres no reason why it shouldnt be changed,

as previously mentioned, definitely get the other person to fill out the form at one of the DPI licensing places first. if not, you're just gonna run into problems.

yeah i've heard the same, as long as the engines the same no issues with swapping it straight over. as its only a form, id do it or get them to for peace of mind, you dont want hassles later for something easily sorted.

how do they check the engine number if the plate isn't changed?

AFAIK it's on the plastic cover over all the timing belt @ the front of the motor, how would you know if that has been changed and/or worn off?

do they start checking stamped numbers on blocks? Is there any? What if you have EL205 heads and a 207 short block?

not a simple proceedure..

Not having a go, I'm in a similar situation with the 207 in mine, still have original plates saying 205 etc etc..
