They are pretty cool with it.

Hell I even did the form for a 3l na to a 2.5l TT and they didnt flinch at it!

If you are switching the number of cylinders the engine has then an inspection is required, so changing a GX to a WRX engine doesnt require an inspection, from a EJ18 to a EJ20.

The fellow at the pits told me that Subarus are considered a 'trusted' make, and rarely an inspection is required, BUT, i took it as more of a one man opinion,

i thought it was capacity etc not just number of cylinders?? if you go up in capacity or add forced induction then you require engineering approval or have to go over pits etc?

not from my expirience,
I would have thought so too, switching a N/a EJ18 to a EJ20T,
