Default auto/manual ?

gday
ive driven both auto and manual in the wrx and cant make up my mind. manual is more fun but wasnt as quick, auto was quicker but going around corners then booting it seemed like it lagged quite a bit in the box. wat do u all recon should i get a manual or an auto ? what are their strengths like aswell after u do a few engine mods can they take a bit of punishment ?

MANUAL MANUAL MANUAL!!!

It should be against the law to sell sports cars with auto boxes!

Once you get better with the Manual it will be quicker than the auto.

/me gives it 10 minutes before somebody brings up the Rigoli wrx

manual dude manual!!!

I took an auto for a drive when I was looking and personally I didnt like it, and I didnt think it was quicker than the manual, too much lag in both gear changing and turbo (I thought it was more than the manual, but possibly this was my imagination)
Besides, gear changing on a manual is subjective, some people are quick, some arent, but with practice you can improve the speed at which you change gears (and best rpm to change at) to get the most out of your car.

An auto in a sports car defeats the purpose IMO.....

You sure the auto was quicker?

In a straight line it can well be

As the box flat shifts it can keep it on boost, as most people wont flat change a manual WRX box...

As a drivers car a auto is gayer then jan holding balloons in albany.

OK if you can get a DSG gearbox with an auto mode to squash into a wrx case go for it.

Other wise harden up and enjoy driving like a car was meant to be driven.

That isn't exactly a stock car

The funny thing is, the manual was probably just a little bit slower even with everything stock

An auto with a FMIC = lots of lag

Whether a manual or an auto box is stronger or not depends a lot on how you drive it, launch, etc

Also, the choice between an auto and manual comes down to what you intend on doing with the car. An auto is not ideal for motorsport, as around corners, you lose a bit of boost, speed, unless if you're Marcel (some of you will know him)
