Nah, your looking at closer to 6k, maybe 6.5k depending on what you change i.e. oil/water pump, head service, etc.

Thumbs down another ej205 bites the dust !!!

Que Queen Music:

"And another one bits the dust, hey hey, another one bites the dust".

7.5 years and a good flogging and my ej205 too has bitten the dust.

Left rear pax side cylinder (#4) compression tested at 62. Bugger! (Should be approx 150) Piston, rings or both are stuffed. Shit loads of blow by with my catch can overflowing.

Suspected worn out AFM the culprit on a my99 WRX.

Gone the bolt on option too with an:
New EJ207 short block
JDM STi Heads and Cams with AVCS (03+ Hopefully)
ARP Head Studs,
Metal Gaskets.
New oil Pump
Re-Use existing Manifold with 550cc side feeds.
Re-Use my just changed over Timing Belt

Budgeting around the 7k mark maybe a bit more.

Add another 1500 for complete 2nd hand STi heads (inc. cams, rocker covers and pulleys), plus a head service (not sure of that cost, around 500 I'd say).

My heads were 3k. This includes:

Version 8 STi heads with STi valves, springs, solid buckets
Wade 278 duration / 9.6mm lift billet cams
Heads x-rayed, decked, serviced and clearanced (which included stelliting the valves i.e. extending them a few thou to set the clearances with the cams)
Fully ported, knife edged splitters, etc etc.

Yeah got the heads covered Joe.
V8 JDM heads I hope in very good nick including cams, rocker covers pulleys and sensors.

V8 JDM STi Heads = V8 03-05 JDM Spec C STi Heads, the really good OEM ones. Part Numbers are all very very similar. I'm sure you have seen this:
