Default MY06 WRX or MY05 STi??

I know there's a similar thread about this, but it was asking about an modded 03-05 WRX versus a stock 03-05 STi, which one to buy.

I'm interested to know what people's thoughts are on a MY06 (2.5L) WRX or a MY05 STi??

Both would have a tune, zorst and intake.

Which one would you go for?? Daily driveability is a major factor, so although the STi would be quicker (I assume), would it be easier to live with day to day than a slightly moded 06 WRX??? Would the off-boost lag that you read about in the 05 STi be annoying??

Any thoughts??

Cheers
DRex

I haven't driven an 06 WRX, only the STI. It went damn hard down low as you'd expect with the 257, but kinda lacked up top.

The 'torque hole' in the 05 STi shat me to tears when i first got the car, but after a tune, power came on significantly sooner, and with 21psi, pulled damn hard all the way. She never really lets up, just keeps going. Piece of piss to drive everyday, even in traffic.

05 STi ftw.

Buy an EVO IX - if not, 05STi by a country mile.

05 Sti without a doubt.

Its more than just the engine. 05 sti has better brakes, suspension, gearbox, forged internals, etc...

What do ya know... theres a 05 Sti thats just popped into the for sale section...

as everyone else has said -- 05 STi.
you're getting a shitload more car for your money than you would with a bog 06 WRX.
think about how much Brembo's, turbo, STi suspension, DCCD, 6 speed box, LSD diffs etc would cost to buy afterwards (and trust me, you might deny it to begin with, but they'll be on your mind after a while driving a WRX).

I've got an 06 WRX,

Could have brought a 03 STi for similar cash, but wanted a newer car,

05 STi for sure,

06, handles like a boat if you've been in a STi.

06, power is linear, little bit boring if you ask me.

Get the 05 STi.
