Yeah i certainly would... i got Steve at MMS to have a look over my rex before i bought it. They can hook up the laptop to check things like error codes, AFRs which im pretty sure RAC don't have. Plus they know the car mechanically inside out and a quick spin round the block with Steve driving will highlight any clutch slipping or gearbox issues.... the man can drive hey

A compression test would not go astray if you want to be 100% sure that the piston ring lands are intact.

Any workshop should be able to do one.

If you are going to get the car checked out before you buy it, it is probably a good idea that it's looked at by someone who is familiar with Subaru's.

I know Tenagah Motorsports in Wangara do pre-purchase checks.
It is also beneficial that you take the car to the workshop so they can put it up on the hoist and have a proper look underneath.

$50 from memory... took bout half hour and i got it up on the hoist which was handy to check out the underbody. I don't think you'll gain much from an RAC inspection if you're reasonably confident in your own ability to pick up major body issues like rust, panel damage, signs of respray, etc.

Im sure you could test all that stuff yourself.. Most of the things the RAC check do are visual.
