4-pot front Subaru brake issues
Hi everyone...
looking for some opinions from you guys. I've just had my front brakes on my gc8 wrx (discs and pads) replaced at a reputable subaru specialist here in melbourne... I got winmax w3 pads and DBA T2 rotors and since they were fitted I've been having some issues... firstly: they were not bedded in at all by my mechanic and my drive home was in pouring rain and heavy traffic so i was unable to correctly bed them in straight away and they have become annoyingly noisy.(not sure if w3 and are meant to be so noisy) secondly: the next day i went out for a drive to bed them in correctly myself and after i was done i could hear a continuous rattling/scraping sound coming from my passenger front wheel and the usual screeching when stopping hadn't gotten any better... when i got back home i found the curved end of the cross clip (thin shaped steel which sits on top between the pads) had popped off its pin and was rubbing on the inside of the wheel causing that continuous rattling/scraping. I took of my wheel and pushed the cross clip back down to clip it back in its place as i thought whoever put it back might have incorrectly placed it back. Unfortunately the next time i drove the car the same thing happened again so this time i took of the clip and got to pairs of pliers to bend it in a way so it will have more tension and I've only been on one short drive since them (with a hard stop) and it hasn't come off yet... my question is are these cross clips meant to be replaced? could mine have been damaged(stretched) when it was removed causing it to not hold enough tension to stay in place? and how long does it usually take for brake noises to stop? (if their meant to stop) |
