Default Ahhh!!! I've done a big end :(

Hey Guys,

This is my first post on p-wrx.

I have a 95 wrx wagon which I have had for about 5 months. I took it to whoop ass wednesday a few weeks ago to see what kind of time it could do and... yeah well i got through about 5 runs, after which it developed a nice little knocking noise in the engine.

I've taken the engine out and the sump off and I found plenty of metal flakes in the bottom of the sump. The big end of cylinder no3 is nice and wobbly on the crank.

I went to a place in Wangara who would sell me a front cut from Japan for $2700. I think this will be a more powerful engine than mine... (anyone know how much?) I dont know what year it is.

He also had a twin turbo legacy long motor that he would give me for $1500. He said this was a popular swap for the single turbo block because the twin turbo block had higher compression. Does anyone know if this is true?

I'm also considering pulling it apart and taking the crank to a shop to get machined to fit an oversized bearing. Obviously i will do all the bearings while i'm there and check cylinders/pistons etc.

Opinions?

Cheers
Stu.
