Default Just Bought a 2005 WRX Hatch

Hi everyone,
My name's Graeme and I've (well the missus and I) just bought a 2005 WRX Hatch. We were after something practical and reliable for a daily driver (our HSV seems to attract people wanting to damage it and my VL Turbo is becoming very impractical ), that we'd also really enjoy driving. Figured the WRX fit the bill pretty much spot on, and you can pick them up at great prices now.
I've owned an MY99 WRX before, which I'd say was the best all round car I've owned (and I've had a LOT of cars ) and only sold it because I was 19 at the time and the insurance was astronomical. I'm really looking forward to getting this new one (it's coming from NSW) and hopefully finding the time to get out on some WRX cruises and meet some of you guys (and girls).
As I've modded my other cars quite a bit and we want to keep this practical we won't be doing too many mods to it. It'll definitely get a 3" TBE, and maybe some intake mods (any good value for money suggestion would be appreciated) but probably not too much else.
Anyway like I said I hope to meet some of you soon and check out some awesome Subies. I'll definitely be making good use of this site as it looks like one of the best forums I've been on.

Simple, to a 3" TBE as you mentioned, fuel pump and Verso tune. Will get a few more hp out of the car whilst maintaining its practicality.

Fuck the HSV. He said his VL Turbo is becoming impracticle !! Hopefully this means it's making bulk power and is hard to keep in a straight line on the way to the shops haha. Pics of all would be good

As Impresiv said 3" TBE, air filter, small airbox mods, fuel pump and Verso tune will see it stinging along with better drivability than it's got now. All done for about 2,000 smakeroos

Welcome

Yeah ns, i wanna hear about some godzilla action. Or at the very least a rb30 with a 25 head conversion pushing some big ponies around those rears whilst collecting the bread and milk!

Welcome, enjoy, and sometimes simples mods are the best. Just dont let the modifications get carried away to keep it practicle. I remember saying to myself "Just a 3 inch TBE and Lowering will do." $13k+ later.

Cheers for the welcome guys. I really plan on not getting too carried away with mods as it's becoming something of a problem for me . Will definitely get the 3" TBE, intake mods and tune, most likely at ASG. I'm resisting the temptation for suspension mods as I worked specializing in suspension before and I know I'll get really carried away if I start changing the suspension setup too much (plus I want to keep it fairly comfortable and I know if I change springs and shocks this won't happen ).
I know what you mean about the HSV thing. I'll never sell mine (it's a SV99) but I'm starting to get over it a bit, even if it is still pretty quick. It's not quite as much fun to drive as a WRX, GT-R or my VL. My VL is a genuine Calais Turbo Wagon (one of only 50) which has recieved a fairly extreme suspension setup and is about to have a 600+hp RB30 (still single cam though ) that I've got which will get it running 10's. I love VL's (the best Holden ever IMO) but I'm really looking forward to getting my Rex as it'll be a better all round car and still something that can be quick, handle great and still be a good comfortable daily driver.
