If you can find one that meets your budget the 05+STi's have the DCCD center diff which lets you adjust the drive balance between front and rear a bit larger wheel hubs/bearings which should be a little stronger than the smaller earlier models and I believe slightly stronger driveshafts ( but don't quote me on the drive shafts )
If you have a choice of 04 or 05 STi try get the 05. I had a classic before the pig and loved it. It just felt right for a sports car. When I test drove the Pig the WRX felt a little soft. Went well but just to detached from the feel ( bit like a Camry. Good car but just no feel ). The STi felt a bit more like the classic. Firm on the gear shift, good feed back from the steering etc... If I was driving it every single day probably would have gone the WRX for the cushier ride but Im not so I went the STi for the enjoyment factor and have never once thought I wish I had gone the WRX.

^^
If i had the chance again i would of bought an 05 Sti over buying my new 07 WRX. Would of cost a bit more at the time but with the money i have spent cosmetically on this one it would of probably ended up cheaper in the long run. |
