Default sup fellow Perth-lings

Hey mate.

Having finally saved enough money for a decent car, I've signed up to to forums to read up a bit on the rexes.

There's a wealth of information in these forums, everyone's cool to each other which is the main idea. Great community it seems.

What's even better is that we're all in Perth, should make searching for a wrx a tad easier.

Some info bout myself, I'm 17, born and raised in Perth and on my green P's.
I've been riding my parent's 2000 Rav4 auto It makes me cringe everytime it doesn't want to upshift and I just don't 'feel' the roads as much compared to a manual. I'm really looking at getting a hold of the MY00 rex as my first fully owned car.

I honestly don't know much about the insides of a car, though I have started reading auto articles on HowStuffWorks in my spare time. Hopefully I have enough confidence one day to do some mods myself in the near future.

Cheers to tuna? for setting up such a great online community, I'll see you fellas around on the forums.

Regards,
Alvin

cheers for the welcomes heh.

i've always had a soft spot for the my00 wrx, the front view also receives a second look from me.

yes, 17 is a bit young to be driving a rex, but hey, imho i haven't got the mindset of a hoon.

after reading about the gc8 and looking at specs from redbook compared to the newer generations, the gc8 looks the goods on paper. it has a better power to weight ratio than all the newer versions except for the monstrous my09 model, and it also uses unleaded fuel, the last of it's kind in the wrx lineup (so says redbook)

so it's light, economical (for a car of this type), AWD would imply it's 'safer' than fwd cars, and it's got some grunt too! 160kw at such a light weight would be more than enough for a young-gun like me. it's too good a car to turn down.

just have to find a well-treated, 'un-riced' gc8 which would last me many more years to come.

Welcome!!

Plenty of quality GC8 for sale on this very forum mate. Take your time picking the right GC8. The initial thought of owww I can afford that one can sometimes end in disaster along the track.

you check out insurances prices before looking at cars you
might be surprised how much a young fella like you will be charged.
