Default 2 days old. 1998 WRX

Hello guys and gals,

My name is MICK. 29yo, long walks on the beach, blah blah....LOL

I've been bustin around all summer on my bike but as it's time for the wife to go back to work after a while off on maternity leave I need a car to pick the kids up in the arvo.

I've been skulking around the forum for a while tryin to decide what to buy.
My last 8 cars have been V8's. The most notable was a 300rwhp VS senator.
Lazy power at 4200rpm. Wow did that thing use some fuel.

Time for a change, I owned a GT4 celica a few years back but I was always envious of the huge after market for the WRX.
Parts are cheap.

Looked at heaps of different cars but I've always had a soft spot for the first generation WRX.

The new toy is a 1998 WRX, 131k on the clock, super clean.

Turbo back exhaust, they sound 1000 times better than any other 4 pot.
Coil overs of some description, Yellow.
Turbo timer and a boost gauge.

Cheap as chips from a dealer with a full 3 year warranty. New service book and all.

Plans:
4 pot front brakes and 2pot on the back.
STI intercooler if I can get one for the right price.
Trim the white sections of the doors black and source some STI seats.

The exterior might get a basic STI look and if i do ill look for some STI rims.
For now I like the 16" rims that are on it.

Really i would just like to mention that the forum and it's wealth of knowledge really helped me decide to pick up the wrx instead of some thing else..

Cheers, MICK......

Looks really tidy considering it's 12 years old! Congrats on the buy.

thanks fellas, I was gonna hold off till our rental sold and look for a bug eyed STI or a BA FPV GT but in the end I liked the idea of cruisin around in this.
The house market is a little slow any way.

Short term plans are to keep it rather stock and pick up a front cut when the house sells.
STI M6 front cut, and slot that in after a tidy up and keep that pretty stock as well.
Not sure though, I need to do some more home work.
She's like a little blue canvas.

In the end i'll proberly spending about the same $$$ as I would have paid for an STI but I'll have more fun in the process.

What's that old saying "it's not the destination thats important, it's the journey" or some shit like that.

Yea the wife picks em up in our land rover.
I need to pick em up and jam them home in time for toons and fairy bread
I used to pick em up in the senator and that thing idled at 100db. Soccer moms used to shield there children from it, my daughter sits in the back telling me to go faster.
So young and yet she already shows so much potential.

Shoot me a wave if you see me around, the plates will make an appearance soon so I should be easy to spot.

I love any thing mechanical, the more variety the better. Being a mech fitter really is my dream job.

I usually do mod my cars sparingly but I love the home work and getting my car to suit me not just have the biggest list of high end parts.
Gotta get the right vibe out of em to suit me.

I certainly will look out for any Scoobs in my area. I'll keep on the look out for any up coming cruises to catch up and get involved.
