I am getting mine under a lease deal and it will be delivered with those items already on. The dealer has told me between them and maximums they will cover any warranty issues. It is like the stage 2 system from MRT they continue the warranty as well. Let's keep the fingers crossed and hope nothing does go wrong.
I am now counting it as two weeks till the car arrives in my hands. So close yet so far away

Did you go with the optional Recaro's?
They feel great but they are a pain in the arse to get into/out of in a daily driven car.

James - suggest you get that in writing from the dealer! Given that Subaru make the decision on warranty claims NOT the dealer they are just talking the talk...be wary.

Mods or no mods as with the 08+ STI it makes no difference to the reliability of the current engine set up ...yes it fails stock too... Unsure as to what the current engine setup is on the MY11 STI so can't comment further.

Apologies for dampening your excitement, just keeping it REAL Mate!

Dr Rock - Didnt get the Recaros as it will be a daily and there was a uncomfortable moment as I was trying them at the dealer.

Bruce - I do like the suggestion on getting the warrenty in writing from the dealer. I will see what I can do. I also knew by doing the mods the risk I do take as I have done mods in the past to other new cars knowing the risk. You havent dampened the excitment at all. I cant wait. Also I have been reading that a AOS really helps and is basically escential for these engines, so I am trying to buy one through the Waynes group buy. This should apprently really help, but it does look like only 1% of engines fail, so I will keep the fingers crossed.

Anything to look out for Bruce?

Read some stuff about cracked ring lands, is that what you mean?
So far my mods are just a boost gauge and short shifter.

Ringlands is still the main issue on 08+ STI engines even on replacement shortblocks...

early signs
not necessarily all at once -
increasing fuel consumption
occasional slightly erratic idle
misfiring
CEL

more obvious
not necessarily all at once -
burning oil
oil filling catch can if applicable
blue smoke

extreme
piston failure

99.9% of owners are oblivious to the early warning signs as it is very subtle. The time taken to move from early - exterme depends on how hard you drive your vehicle.

hope this helps.
