Default Hi All

Hi All,

I am looking to purchase a 2005 Rex with the following mods.

Can I please seek some professional advice whether it is good to buy a modded or non-mod vehicle? What key areas should I be aware of before buying a modded rex etc...

Thanks in advance!

Maybe that means a stock 05 WRX.
Buy an 05 STI as a base to start modding.
Oh and Welcome.

Oppss my bad... the mod list include the following:

3" stainless steel turbo back exhaust
hyperflow top mount intercooler
Ecu-tek custom tune level 3
bosh fuel pump
super sonic'turbo smart' blow off valve
king spring lowered suspension
cold air intake pipe
3" silicon inlet pipe

Do you reckon I should bring the vehicle to a Rex specialist to do a pre-purchase inspection?

Your advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

The car he is looking at has those modifications, not that he is looking for a car with those...

Personally there isn't much there tbh. I'd be getting rid of the blow off valve asap and using a stock one. Less cop attention and just as good as the aftermarket ones.

I'd be finding out who has done the work, being ECUTek if it is a WA car that means it was done by Racetorque or MMS. Given they did the mods, it might be best to get them to do the inspection since they know the history. Alternatively, I highly recomment to use STechnic to do inspections/services.

Given it is a WRX and there is no mention of a turbo swap, I'd be asking RT/MMS how much to slap on a VF34 and retune would be. Then you will be smiling like no tomorrow.

However, if this car is $25k, there are 05 STi's going for around $30k... Which includes factory brembos, VF series turbo, STI TMIC, R180 diffs, 6 speed with dccd, 5 x 114.3 PCD etc etc etc etc etc.

This ^^^^^^^^^^

Also as John said, I would have it properly checked without question and seeing as it is running EcuTek then MMS or RT are the people to check it and speak to about the car.
