Default New member with a question

Hi All,

I recently bought a 2000 WRX with an aftermarket EJ208 converted to a single VF35 turbo and a Takashi FMIC... My question is, why can't I find a BOV anywhere on the intake/aftercooler circuit? The car whoosh's when I change gears or when backing of from high revs (backing off when high revs in neutral when trying to find where sound is coming from). Will I still get whooshing if there is no BOV fitted? Could it be pressure going back through the turbo?

Cheers Megsy

If there is no BOV... the noise will be coming through the intake filter as air rushes backwards through the turbo.

I'm running around 20psi boost so I'm guessing thats not so good for the turbo... I'm planning on using it as a race car and a road car so I'd better go and get a BOV before I do any damage... Right or wrong?

Cheers for the info...

vf35 is plain bearing turbo. They can handle a bit of flutter.

A BOV wouldn't go astray though.

since you have a FMIC I'd suggest yu also have a cold air intake? This will give you a wooshing sound without an aftermarket BOV.

Post a pic of your engine bay, I'm sure someone will be able to point it out for you.

What an EJ208?.. EJ207 you mean?

EDIT: 208 is the B4 twin turbo motor.
