Default First intro, First problem haha

Hello All,

After puchasing my 1996 WRX sedan a couple weeks back, I have run into my first problem. Fuel pump, yes another fuel pump problem haha. have taken off the hose to the fuel filter and nothing. this happened a couple days after I brought it but it seemed to fix itself after playing around with the plugs ( under the rear seat). when turning the ignition on I can hear the relays switching, although have been unable to locate the fuse for this circuit? I am waiting on flatmate to bring my tools home today so i can test voltage at the pump. any suggestions on what this may be will be greatly appreciated.

Where are the good performance part dealers around the osborne park area ? being new to perth doesnt help my situation.

thanks in advance

Welcome! Seems the NZ crowd is increasing.

For workshops see here:

For purchasing parts try the forums vendors section of this forum and having a look through similar threads for other references.

Cheers,

To be honest I would just book the car in at S-Technic ASAP (but I'm just lazy and CBF doing anything myself).

Otherwise please see the following thread. http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/mechanic...workshops.html

Beaten to it...

P.S Welcome to Perth-WRX... another Kiwi.. we are taking over.

cheers guys, I would rather have a go at fixing the problem before taking it to a shop.
I know the fuel pump is a common prob with this model, just a process of elimination i guess.

Does anyone know where the fuse is for the fuel pump?

have tested the fuel pump plug under the rear seat and getting no voltage, still cannot find the fuse... and am guessing the relay is the green one under the dash of the drivers side?

yea mate unsure on the brand tho.. it seems as the plug under the seat has melted a little on the active wire ( Black w/ Red stripe) so am guessing its shorted out. is there a fuse on this circuit?

There won't be a fuse for your alarm, otherwise people would just pull that to steal your car!

I would suggest ensuring your car isn't immobilised first as that will stop power to your fuel pump, then you can swap out the pump if needed with a Walbro drop in.

If you are stuck, try a mobile mechanic like Jim Hall @ Blue Star.

haha yea i meant on the fuel pump circuit.
Im starting to think the fuel pump has had it and is pulling too many amps resulting in the melting of the plug? although that doesnt explain the no voltage.

Is there anywhere around you can buy the walbro replacements off the shelf?
