05 Sti
Howdy,
So i've been on here for quite a while because about 2-3years back i was looking at getting an Sti but i ended up going down the 4x4 path. Since the old man recently bought a boat the fourby never really saw the sand so thought i'd chuck it in an get something fun again. Its done 126000km had an exhaust, fuel pump and Ecutek tune by max motorsport about 6 months back so the drives real nice. Yet to discover what the rims are (if any 1 knows please do tell) as i've only driven the car a few times. All in all got a really good price on it, but that is reflected by the fact the car needs/needed some tlc. -few scratches on door handles and pin dents on bonnet) -replaced all 4 tyres -oil/filter change this weekend. -few headlight globes to be replaced -drivers window switch decides not to work 10% of times i've used it -1 slight fault which i'm still trying to figure out, but pretty sure the power steering pump might be on its way out. (Repetitive hard cornering causes the steering to temporarily feel like a truck) maybe a shitty hose, i dunno -think its going to due some pads/have the rotors machined as it dances around a bit under hard braking. other than that the car drives great, i'm looking forward to putting in the dollars and hours to get it back to the quality car it is. Although having a few small dings and dents makes it a shitload easier to park it at the shops

I rate the colour and pattern of these, i've just never really been sold on rims with highlights in them, Especially given the Pink Sti really clashes with the red. I'd probably be chasing something in a gloss black or nice gun metal

Tell them how much you paid and watch the bottom fall out of the market lol. I think it's pretty good condition considering the price... Paint the red lip black on the rims and it will help a lot

Yeah wasn't a massive fan of the rims, seem to have a strange offset, so i'll keep my eyes peeled for 18's considering i just replaced all 4 tyres ahaha.
yeah just FYI i picked the car for $19500 still great pickup in my oppinion given the faults

If it makes you feel any better, I picked up my 05 STI about 18 months ago for $32K....although it was in mint (stock) condition and had only done 42,000kms. $19.5K for an 05 STi in pretty decent condition, is a steal, good work there! Hope to see you out on a cruise or two in the future Last edited by DamoESP; 04-06-2013 at 07:51 PM. |

Im looking at 3 different things and want some oppinions on each
Suspension - Mostly want to drop it down for looks wise, little bit torn whether to just get some lower springs poss pinks (but heard they can clap out the struts if you don't change them). Or spend the extra and get some coilovers for around the 1-1.5k mark. I've heard the standard struts and springs in the Sti's are really good quality and cheapo coilovers are a backwards step. Any oppinions between springs or coilovers? Rims - Been looking at things in the price range 1-2k mark, The Rota's seem to be good value for money, found some Works Emotions XD9's on ebay for around the 1200-1300 mark which i imagine are pretty similar quality to the rota's then haha. I was thinking 18x8.5+44 or 18x9+38 for size. I think i'd probably need the guards rolled if i got it fairly low. Brakes - May or may not of seen that i've pretty much posted the same query in another, unrelated thread, of mine. Pretty certain the Rotors and pads are due replacing. Tossing up machining the existing rotors and replacing the pads, or spending the extra and upgrading the DBA4000's or something similar. The car doesn't seen any track work and is only driven pretty hard on the road on occasion. The Rims and suspension choices are more based around the appearance of the car, and any performance gains just a bonus. As for the brakes its a matter of, i'm going to need to spend x amount of money of them soon so the decision is to spend what i need to spend, or spend the little extra if its going to give a decent improvement. As always any criticism or oppinion welcomed.
