Perhaps I should go to S Technic for my servicing. Currently I go to a general/any-make mechanic.

I have found more info about my car. It has a Z4 ECU in it, which is in 1994 - 1996 JDM WRX's. So this car could be an import. It should run 12.7 psi stock. The restrictor is meant to be in the vent pipe between solenoid lower port and intake, however the pipe coming out of the bottom port in the solenoid travels to a dead end. The pipe is just blocked off at the end.

Cake is for afternoon tea. Showing your tits is for letting someone know that you really appreciate their help.

Engine/driveline is likely out of an imported half cut but the car itself would have been Australian delivered. That's the way most conversions go unless you're able to score a locally delivered example as a donor car.

Ah yes, you're probably correct. I forgot about the VIN being Australian. From Wikipedia, JDM WRX's have almost as much power as an STI! I sure don't feel it though with the 5 psi.

I moved the boost gauge line into a vacuum pipe that is coming straight out the intake manifold, and now the needle actually goes below zero. It never did that before!

I also removed the "plug" that was in the end of the pipe coming out the bottom of the solenoid. There is a restrictor pill inside the pipe as well. I am assuming it is the 2mm one. I have no idea why the pipe was blocked off.

However after all of this, the max boost it gets to is still 5psi...

I might start another thread on this issue in a more appropriate section of this forum if that's okay. Or could a moderator move this one? Thanks.

check your bov isn't leaking too, or any splits in the y-pipe that could be opening up when you hit boost

I put cable ties on each pipe on the y-connector when I was removing the MBC. They still seem to slip out with a little force though.

Tomorrow I will try and make a "Boost leak tester" to check all of the intercooler piping. I don't think I can test the vacuum hoses using this method though.
