Default 2005 Subaru Forester HELP

Hey Guys,

I have a 2005 Forester that has caused me a NUMBER of problems in the last 2 years costing me over $8,000 in repairs.

I am at a loss as to where to go next and need some advice on a reliable mechanic that is honest. I feel my last mechanic has ripped me off and never seems to get to the bottom of problems.

Current two major issues are my headlights and Power steering Pump.

Police were going to yellow sticker me last night as both headlights have gone out (low beam) I have recently had one replaced and then the other side went out so went back and got that looked at and was advised it may have been a clip and then was back on the road. The one that had just been replaced went out again and I went back and they have advised me its not a bulb issue and could be the ballast ? I have been driving around with one headlight and that went out again last night. The mechanic advised me that the owner before me has converted these to HID hence the high price in fixing and has advised I might be best to get replacements for both sides from a wreckers and get fitted back to normal ? I also notice that there is moisture in my headlights this was just on one side but is now on both.

Second major issue is I need a new power steering pump, The mechanics were going to call in a favour from someone he knew at Subaru and try and get this at a cheaper price as he said the pump alone will cost $1,200. I have been waiting 2 months for this and they still cant come back to me with a price.

I need to get to the bottom of these issues I hope that someone can point me in the right direction to a good mechanic or have any other suggestions for me.

Thanks,

Anita the single best thing you can do right now is call Stechnic (workshop) they are pretty much the most trusted Subaru specialist workshop in Perth.
