Default New user!

Been floating around these forums for quite some time now, so thought I may as well try get involved!

Bought myself a my12 Wrx in grey about a year or so ago now. She's currently fully stock however I'm hoping that will be changing in the near future! Just trying to figure out exactly what I want before I bite the bullet and start..

You'se seem like a good bunch of fellas, and hopefully I can learn a thing or two and get a bit more involved!

Gday, please search first THEN ask the residents of the asylum remembering that opinions are like arseholes ... Everyone has one.

Welcome!

Downpipe, exhaust, fuel pump & retune is generally how most people start out and the results are worth every cent of the cost required.
Next up you could look at increasing the handling aspect of the car, this can be done through end link, sway bays, various bushings, lowering springs/struts/coilovers, etc and also brake pads/rotors/calipers/fluids/etc.

Plenty of different builds on the 3rd gen (08+) so you should be able to see what people have done.

Enjoy

Yea that's similar to what I have in mind. Was thinking a full turbo back - probably from Hyperflow exhausts, CAI and a retune to start however haven't looked much into fuel pumps as of yet!

Any specific reason?

Been looking for recommended performance shops through the threads, Norm Butler has popped up a few times.

Invidia is also very good, welding is spot on, and they use thicker flanges than my Norm downpipe (thin flange would bent under high temp and cause leak), and the big inlet will reduce wastegate pressure at high rpm.

Yea I've been looking at invidia basically since the day I got my car.. what would be the major differences by going with something like and ultrex over an invidia?

If I were to go with an invidia, where would be the best place to get a quote on purchase+fitting? All I've heard on here about purchasing has been online. Or am I just looking in the wrong places?

Performance difference would be hard to compare unless its a really faulty design. Each engine is different, so no piont to compare just on tbe itself.

On the other hand, Longitivity and fitment r easier to measure. I have seen xforce, norm butler and invidia, I would recommend invidia with an add on divorce plate like their USA version. Race torque can supply and install them. They all perform similarly on dyno. But Norm is quieter and less drone on fwy. But my norm down pipe failed after only 70000km. Might be an isolated case.
