Post AD08 / AD08R user experience

As it seems to be the most used and top performing semi road semi race tyre...I'm looking for some feedback on what kind of life and performance you've had with them.

Only looking for feedback from people who use them or have in the past as a street/track tyre.

please answer this in your post:
1- AD08 or AD08R? What size/profile?
2- Used daily plus track days? Daily only? Track only?
3- how many KMs and/or how many track days did you get out of them before needing a new set?
4- Wet performance? Felt as safe as any other tyre or had to really ease off when raining?
5- Any other valuable info you would like to share? E.g., daily tyre pressures, track pressure, etc.

Thank you all. I'll be getting those soon and want to know what I'm in for.

This thread is intended to be based on user experience and be informative for anyone looking to run AD08Rs as their daily as well as weekend warrior tyre, so they know what to expect.

1) AD08 235/45R17
2) Mostly daily driving and a number of skid pans
3) Been on the car for around 35000km now, still have a good 2mm of life left
4) Better than I was expecting! You can still be a bit silly in the wet and get it to step out a bit.
Had a Ford Falcon trying to pass me in the wet going up Albany Highway in the hills, every time he put the foot down he started to fish tail a bit, just geared down and floored it to get away from him.
Didn't slip or let up at all and I was quite impressed, considering that it was pissing down with rain and there was a lot of water sitting on the road.
5) Ran 34 to 38 psi for most of the time they have been on, no flat spots, small amount of camber wear (as expected with -2.5 degrees), never played with pressure on the track.

I've thoroughly enjoyed these tyres and have just ordered a new set of 255/40R17 AD08r from John Fowler.
There is a bit more road noise due to the type of tread pattern that is used on these tyres, but if you have a loud exhaust, loud car, etc, you won't give too hoots.

tl:dr
Tyres have been great since day one, get the AD08r through John Fowler.

Will not suit a daily, wear far too quickly...
Great tyre though, but a bit too expensive for daily duties for my liking.

Edit - can't say I have fully worn mine out yet, but with heavy street use mine have gotten pummelled.

I'll disagree here a bit on the wearing.
My old 08 had them, albeit a smaller size (205/50R17 from memory) and only managed to get 18000km out of them before the shoulders were worn to shit.

The current 235/45R17 on my car have done at least 35000km with several skid pans and a fair bit of hard driving and still have enough life in them to get another 3000 to 5000km.

Jezza thanks for this feedback...but could I ask for some actual usage experience please, and answer some of the clear questions asked...

Don't want this thread to be based on I think/he thinks and get lost in an opinionated discussion, I believe you will appreciate this

1) AD08 245/17/40
2) Daily with track days. (Used to live near Canningvale and drive to Subi everyday for work)
3) Can't remember exactly but i did at least 20 track days on them and when i sold them they still had 30% tread haha
4) Wet performance was fine.
5) I used to run 34 psi hot at the track.

Good luck man

1- AD08 205/50r16
2- Used combo of track, skid and daily. Performed much better than my re002s at collie, but showed wear much quicker driven regularly.
3- have not been through a full set yet but wouldn't of had them much longer than 20000km... Have been alternating between sets wheels/tyres to manage wear
4- probably the best wet tyre, especially on track
5- run 32-34psi

I got my set from John also... Back when he still ran WW with Bob.

Don't get me wrong, they are a great tyre and can be relied upon to perform, but I've found they wear much quicker than my street tyres.

Still get a bit of life out of them though, as Soksta has attested to.

Edit - they are well deserving of perfect trade off between street and track though! I don't think you can get a better street legal tyre for the track.

1- AD08R - 195/50/15
2- Pretty much track only, but some road (inc drive to collie)
3- not really worn them that much
4- Havent driven in the wet, should be ok though
5- 35psi hot at the track, copped abuse for a full day at wanners on my car (civic) and no issues with overheating.

Recommended for track work that you can drive to/from the track - cant comment on daily use. Ordered via demontweeks in the uk

Feel stickier and with better on limit grip than Federal RS-R's i run on the other car

Ad08 245*40*18 - 2010 sti
7 track days
13000+ km so far, loads of tread left - 75%
35psi cold on street
34psi hot at the track.
Great tyre wet(even at the track) or dry, little bit noisy but quieter than oem dunflops.
Watch out when they are cold as they take a couple of minutes to warm up even on the street.

How do they compare to a real R-comp in terms of grip at the track anyone?
