Default Impulse Buy reintro

Hi all
My name is Dave, I'm 43, I have been a member of the Western patrol club for years (am not financial any more) as I have owned 7 patrols, 2xTB42's and 5xTD42's, none of them turbos.
Yes I came to own a wrx in a very hasty fashion. But I've admired them since I first saw them in their debut Aussie rallies.
My reason for getting this one was, it was entry level price, I thought most of its flaws had been disclosed as I've known the previous owner for 3 years as work colleagues, and I knew enough to know it was not a common car in that it was a STI JDM wagon. It's an older one being a 96 and has a few issues but overall is a reasonably tidy car for its age, and it hasn't been modified much, other than a front mount cooler system, headers and exhaust and a set of later model Subaru 18" rims. I also got the original gold 16's as part of the deal
Yes I need this forum more than it need me, but I'm still willing to contribute, in a positive way, wherever I can.
Regards Dave

Lol'd at the title. Looks pretty tidy. Not familiar with early model rex's apart from spewing out the window of one many years ago. All the best and welcome.

Thanks Shaunus, haha,, them g-force induced hurls
Yes they are primitive, but still have bang for buck compared to my daily tractor,, though I suspect this is going to require a lot more bucks more often than the old Nissan's

Cool looking wagon, the interior looks really neat.

Cheers Dan, yes the interior is still very good for age bar a few minor blemishes and the brown faux carbon fiber inserts and gear nob, I still shudder and wonder every time I get in where and when this was in vogue

Would make for a good project car if you were maybe wanting to dump some money into it. Some MY11-13 rims would look nice on it. Maybe also go back to top mount intercooler and get a pod filter/intake that is shrouded away from hot air.

The cutting has been done so may as well just leave the FMIC in there and seems like it is a decent fit. The intake situation would see worthwhile gains in drive-ability and some power.

With rims 18's can look a bit too big depending on the style. 17's look killer

Yes it already needs some $ dumped into it as it has an engine issue (fuel I suspect) that the previous owner started to try and remedy, the new air being part of that, and for the life of me I don't know why they left the pod inside the bay when it was getting done.
Was intending to keep it low budget and close to stock while I sus how one of these feels and drives (10 years of diesel patrols have dulled the senses and abilities ) . And the rest of the car, it's @ 226ks, so there's nothing that won't need looking at once I start looking
