You's are all pussies until my turbo is sold and the cash is in my hands. Sooner the turbos sold, the sooner i can spend the cash on my non-pussy engine which will need an even bigger turbo than the one i got now.

I've got a Dom3 and a 3076R. Or are they the same thing? But different.
Not very laggy on my 2.6.

Yes, a Dom3 or 3076 wont be too laggy on a 2.5L (2.6L), infact i see them both as a perfect match for that size engine. I specifically chose my current GTX3076R because I actually went to the trouble of calculating and plotting my predicted engine airflow. (Displacement X boost X RPM assuming volumetric efficiency of 100 then converted to lbs/min) Over the top of Garretts supplied compressor efficiency map. Doing this shows the GTX3076R as a perfect match for a 2.5L. Peak compressor efficency happens at just before 6k RPM at 1.5bar boost and 5.5k RPM at 2 bar boost.

Map shows compressor efficency. Horizontal axis is airflow. Vertical axis is pressure ratio (boost). Circles are how efficient the compressor is. Curvy lines are turbo RPM. Left side of map is surge (engine usinf too little airflow). Right side of map is choke (engine demanding too much airflow). Horizontal coloured lines are boost level, diagonal coloured lines are engine RPM.

Looking at this map, we can see that if you want to run more than 2 bar boost, and/or push it out to a higher RPM, then the 3076 is actually going to be too small, and you should look at something bigger. And this is the exact dilemma i have now. I originally chose the 3076 to replace the Dom 2.5 because i had a open deck 2.5L EJ. So i could only really push to 1.5/1.6bar. And i had a stock 2.5L crank and smallish cams so didnt really want to rev past 7k RPM. So GTX3076R was a perfect match. New engine is gonna be able to rev higher and take more boost. Which is basically gonna be putting it off the (compressor efficiency) map in the top end.

Yes. They are effectively the same. Dom3 starts off as GT3076R. Blouch then put stock location housings on it, and fit thier own special billet compressor wheel.

The actual proper 3076r will obviously need an external wastegate, and have a 4" inlet and 4 bolt exhaust housing and that exhaust housing may have a different A/R ratio. Garrett use A/R, Blouch use a different method, where they state only the area of the turbine inlet. And just to make it that little more difficult to compare to A/R, they state that area in CM^2 instead of Inch^2. Not that you would acurately be able to convert CM^2 to A/R as you would never be able to propely measure the radius in to the center of the turbine inlet. As said, its difficult to know how Blouchs system compares to a standard A/R ratio. But i think Blouch 8cm^2 is close to a 0.6A/R and 10cm^2 is close to a 0.8A/R.

The other thing i will add. The Blouch billet wheels arent a direct match to the Garrett ones they replace. They have almost identicle inducer/exducer sizing. And the design is very simlar to Garretts GT wherls (not GTX). When comparing dom2.5 to 3071. But the compressor profiles make them incompatible. Look at this comparison I did between a GTX3071R and my Dom2.5. OzFoz.com • View topic - Yeti Sled. 412 HP@W

Well now you know.

And hopefully so the next pussy with NFI about turbo sizing who comes onto the forum looking for a turbo will read this before making stupid comments like :

"Hey guys, dose anyone have a turbo about as big as a 3076 to make 350-400whp. But i dont want a Dom3 because its too big and slow to spool. Oh yeah, i dont want to spend any money becuase im saving for a gearbox swap, so the turbo must be dirt cheap and brand new because i dont want a used one when i could go buy a new one myself for $2.4k. What you got?"
